Lazy Days along the Shroppie.... shhhhhhhhh it's quiet
Audlem to Market Drayton, Shropshire Union Canal, 3.5 miles 16 locks
Market Drayton today…
It’s very quiet here along the towpath, and in front of us is NB LazyDays. We met Francis and Alan in the Talbot Inn last night for a couple of pints and a good ‘ol chat.. Great evening that was in good company.
It’s been a while since we stopped for a snack and coffee in a lock.. dead handy that, as no ropes to have to tie up in Adderley lock 11. Lunch would be late once we reached Market Drayton.
We had come up from Audlem yesterday in the sunshine.. oh except for one spell of really squally weather.. hence mooring in the lock, passing just one boat which happened to be NB Debdale without Adam aboard this time though.
I am surprised there are very few boats on the move, in the 4 days we were at Audlem only 2 boats passed that I know of.. but it is always November that boaters who live aboard have to get used to the winter months.
November has been a bad month for us really because at the beginning the clocks had just gone forward/back giving us less light in the evening, then the weather changed to wind and rain, and with Meg having cut her pad badly, we have had 4 weeks of having to slow right down, not doing much at all.
In fact we had planned to go to Chester, that went out the window and had to turn back much earlier, and we had planned to be at Gailey Lock just in time for the winter stoppage there to have it’s Christmas break (BW open up some of the lock stoppages over the Christmas/New Year period if they can). Now that has gone out of the window.. You see young Meg needs to see the vet every other day at the moment to get that injury checked out.
Mind you she went to the vet today, and hey, hey it was so much better.. dry at last, the infection seems to have abated at last.. gosh it has taken so long to start to improve. I am even hoping that when I go back on Wednesday they may well give the care of her over to me..
Thanks to everyone by the way for all your best wishes for her and your advice too, it has been very helpful indeed.
