Just a normal day at Audlem

Moored Audlem, Shropshire Union Canal

It was the brittest lit moonlit nit that I had seen for ages last night.  Andrew must have had a field day night.  What time did you go to bed Andy?

I looked out and could see Audlem lock 11 some 200 yards away.. the smoke from our cosy woodburner was going in a straight line up to the cloudless sky.  Yards I say.. but I was brought up with yards and inches you see, so metres are something I find difficult to calculate in visual distance guessing.

Being a draper all my life I was shocked when we were forced to take off the yardsticks from the measuring counters to replace them with government stamped metre sticks.. But still even now in our family business that my children have taken over, net curtains are sold by the metre, but customers know their drops are in inches!

“2 metres of 48 inch nets please”.. it happens!

Boring day today.. Meg to vet for change of dressings.. wait 40 minutes for the bus back while listening to some guys complete and total history of his life and of his family.. buying train tickets in advance for our trip to London for Skiing early next year only to find afterwards that I had an email in my box with 20% off those tickets if I ‘click here’.  But I had already clicked ‘there’!

Oh well, teach me to open my emails when they arrive rather than leave them till later!

Later I was looking at which of the ski runs I will go down when we go on holiday… ho hum will it be black, red or green.. or maybe a quick shuffle to the nearest bar round the corner!!
