No Problem passing the BSS and a hire boat sandwich at Foxton...
Moored Foxton, Grand Union Canal
I was up early this morning.. I wanted to just sweep the floors of dog hairs, tidy up the ‘untidy basket’ that is kept on the shelf by the stern deck.. you know the one containing doggie bags, pooper scoops, locking gloves, old and new tissues, padlock, windup torch that doesn’t wind up anymore, wet gloves, wipes.. plus a load of other stuff that has always needed throwing out, but didn’t do it yet.. Well it got done this morning.. huh, OK, now I can find stuff, but it also meant that the Boat Safety Scheme Examiner could at least see the main electrics coming into the boat from the batteries!
I had just finished doing that when Vic shouted “Breakfast!” Good man.. lovely eggs we have at the moment. There is a nice lady in the village of Smeeton Weston who sells fresh range eggs.. not far off the footpath that leads from the lovely mooring at the Saddington Aqueduct.
Vic unscrewed the cooker so the flexi hose could be seen, and I checked that all other areas that he would want to inspect were cleared for examination..
By lunchtime we had done just the one modification necessary on a cabinet and No Problem had a new Safety Certificate for another four years, and we sat down to lunch with a smile on our faces… hoooorayyyy!
While having lunch it got a bit busy close to where we were moored, and not only did we enjoy our sandwich, but another sandwich was going on outside the window!..

This is two Canaltime Hire Boats on the outside and a Napton Narrowboats Hire Boat in the middle.. the one on the left was trying to go down the Market Harborough Arm, the one on the right was trying to go up the Foxton Locks towards Crick, and the one in the middle had taken completely the wrong line, trying to go under the bridge into the basin by the inclined plane here.. now that is a no go area, he got well shouted at!
They all then decided to go backwards at the same time to get out of their pickle, and I had to hide behind the curtain such was my smiles.. but they sorted it in the end.. I think everyone has one of THOSE situations once in a while, me included!
Tonight we decided to have a meal out.. well no bills today, our boat passed it’s examination.. celebration time!

So over to the new pub at Foxton, very enjoyable.. Oh I had a pint or two of Old Peculiar Martin.. Yummy. Last night we had a couple of pints at the Bridge 61 Pub on the other side of the little basin…

You can just about see the bottom lock of the Foxton Staircase to the left of the pic.
I’m not sure what we are doing this week, we didn’t decide yet.. must get a Tesco soon though for dog food or Lucy and Meg are going to start moaning at rations!
