It's a bit wet on the Nene

Weekend and today – Moored Denford, River Nene

Goodness it has been wet, but I have managed to get out with the dogs on each evening.  It seems the rain is determined to fall by day, and not by night at the moment.  I hear that Scotland is to have a frost tonight, and maybe some snow tomorrow in the highlands!

I asked the owner of The Cock Inn here in Denford how long the chef had been working for him after we had finished our sunday lunch.. “Fourteen days” was his reply.. Yes, I was not surprised.  This pub was my number one of the year for sunday roasts, but not any more it isn’t, what a shame.  Presentation was good, but the meal itself I felt was not up to the standard of a £9 roast.. still never mind, still tops then for this year then is Lock Stop Bistro at Hillmorton on the Oxford Canal..

The farmer knocked the door this morning.. “Is it OK if I let my heifers out into this field?”.. Amazing!   We are moored in HIS fields, and he asks if it is OK to let the cows out!  It was really funny this evening, they all came over to watch the tele through the window!

I am quite happy staying here for a few more days while this awful weather passes.  I feel like one of the villagers.  Everyone says Hi when I am out with the dogs, and they all seem to know it’s me that is moored in their meadows.  Anyway I have some repairs to do to my website server after a bit of a disaster on their part over the weekend.
